Fish Stocking
Walleye stocking has been a priority for the Improvement District along with the Minnesota DNR to improve walleye fishing on Lida Lakes. In 2019 the DNR placed 1.3 million walleye fry in North Lida and 176,000 in South Lida. In 2020 the DNR started stocking fingerlings and yearlings and sought to designate Lida Lakes as "Carryover Walleye Lakes" which would provide stocking of larger adult fish.
In 2025 the DNR stocked 1000/littoral acres(2.38 million) fingerlings and designated North Lida a "Carryover Walleye Lake" adding 1211 pounds of walleye yearling(adult fish). South Lida was also designated a Carryover Walleye Lake and added 533 pounds of yearling walleye. In addition to the DNR stocking, LLID stocked 1200 pounds of walleye in North Lida and 500 pounds in South Lida.
Over 15,344 yearling walleye were stocked by the DNR and LLID in 2025!
Both the DNR and LLID plan a similar walleye stocking plan in the Fall of 2026.
